Handicap Calculation

RETURNING PLAYERS

For a returning league player, the calculation is based upon the average of the player’s last three league rounds, including rounds from the prior season.

This average is then compared to our league handicap table to determine the player’s handicap.

For example, scores of 84 + 86 + 88 = 258 divided by 3 produces an average score of 86.

A player with an 86 average score results in a handicap of 11 per handicap table.

NEW PLAYERS

A new league player will develop their handicap in a different manner until they have played three matches.

Their first match handicap will be determined by direct comparison of that player’s match score to the handicap table.

A first match score of 86 leads to a handicap of 11.

This handicap will also be used for their second match.

Their third match handicap is calculated by averaging their first two round scores and then comparing that score to the handicap table.
